Myers-Briggs Type Indicator & The VARK Questionnaire

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers-Briggs Typr Indicator (MBTI) is designed to assess and analyse how humans perceive the world and make decisions, in which there are 16 MBTI types.
After completeing the MBTI assessment, I found out that I had got the result of ENTP in which the summary of this is as follows:
  • Quick, Stimulating, alert and outspoken.
  • Resourceful in challenging and solving problems.
  • Good at reading other people.
  • Bored with the same routine - will do the same rountine in the same way very seldomly.
  • Adapt to turn to one interest after another.
The VARK Questionnaire
The VARK questionnaire has been designed to help any student identify a learning style that suits them best. After finding out the results, the student can them research other learning approaches that could benefit them in the future.
After completing the VARK questionnaire, I have found out that I have a Kinestic learning preference becuase I like to do a physical activity rather than sit there listening in a lecture, in which I feel that I learn more by doing something that just listening to something.
My VARK scores are as follows:

  • Visual - 4
  • Aural - 8
  • Read/Write - 1
  • Kinesthetic - 11

Below is the Learning Line that I have completed up to the stages that are applicable to me.











SWOT Analysis

Strengths

  • I understand the University system and my part in it.
  • I understand what is meant by plagiarism and collusion.
  • I am able to use information from any sources.
  • I understand how to maximise benefit from teaching and Learning.
  • I know the specific requirements of my pathway.
  • I use the Library and other learning resources.
  • I can demonstrate basic IT skills.
  • I can demonstrate numeracy skills that are specific to my pathway.
  • I know how to skim read and use selective reading for academic purposes.
  • I can spell, use punctuation and grammar this is appropriate to the academic study.
  • I can show speaking and listening skills.
  • I can contribute actively to small group work.
Weaknesses
  • I do not know how to reference academic work properly.
  • I am not developing techniques for note taking in lectures and from literature.
  • I am not developing appropriate styles of writing for different purposes.
  • I cannot recognise my strengths and weaknesses in group situations.
  • I cannot recognise the strengths and weaknesses of others in the group.
Opportunities
  • I can develop my referencing skills.
  • I can develop my practical skills.
  • I can volunteer at or with the University to gain some experience.
  • I can find some work experience with help from the University.
  • I can get help with anything that I am stuck on from anybody at the University - staff and students!

Threats
  • The fees for the course can increase.
  • I could possibly fail a module which could result in my self not qualifying for a degree.
  • I might not be able to hand my work in on time due an illness.

My name is Gurpreet Dhaliwal and I have started studying Multimedia, Animation and the Web at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.
